About BMicrophone.com

A complete reference guide to the world of microphones — written for everyday people, not for audio engineers. Here’s what we are, why we exist, and who runs the site.

What BMicrophone is

A complete guide to microphones and microphone accessories

BMicrophone.com is a comprehensive reference site about microphones. It covers every major microphone type, the major brands ranked by company size, the support gear you need around any microphone, and the use-case picks for podcasting, streaming, music, voiceover, and more.

It’s written in plain English. No engineering-degree assumption. Every term is defined in the glossary, and every important concept like polar patterns and phantom power has its own explainer page.

Why this site exists

Most microphone information online reads like a spec sheet

Most microphone websites are written for people who already know what a polar pattern is. That’s a brick wall for everyone else. BMicrophone.com translates the gear into normal language. Each page tells you what a microphone is, who uses it, what it sounds like, and whether it’s the right tool for what you’re trying to do — without making you feel like you should already know.

Who runs it

BMicrophone.com is part of the WholeTech network of websites operated by Paul Walhus. WholeTech runs over 100 informational and reference websites across topics including domain recovery, technology news, Hot Springs, Arkansas, video switching, and others.

Paul has been working with technology and the internet since the early days of the public Web in the 1990s. The goal across the WholeTech network is the same: information that’s useful to non-experts, written without unnecessary jargon.

How the site is built

BMicrophone.com is a static HTML website — no databases, no logins, no commenting platform. Every page loads fast and works without JavaScript. The site is hosted on a DigitalOcean droplet running nginx, with HTTPS provided by Let’s Encrypt.

Pages are written and built with the help of Claude (Anthropic’s AI assistant), which is a research and writing tool. All content is reviewed and edited by a human before publishing. If you spot an error, please tell us.
