Schoeps — modular German precision for orchestras and film

Schoeps is a German manufacturer founded in 1948 in Karlsruhe. Their genius was the CMC modular system: a microphone “body” with interchangeable capsules. You buy one body, then swap cardioid, omni, hypercardioid, or figure-8 heads as needed. It’s the dominant orchestral and film-set system in Europe.

Schoeps mics are the unsung heroes of classical recording, opera, and film. The CMIT 5U shotgun mic is the European film-boom standard, alongside the Sennheiser MKH 416.
