Power on
Connect the included power supply to the USB-C power port and press the red button next to it. The unit boots and displays a QR code. Tap Home to reach the home screen.
Touchscreen & encoder
The touchscreen works alongside the encoder. The LED ring around the encoder illuminates white when you can use it to navigate menus, and green when you can use it to adjust an on-screen setting.
HDMI inputs & camera assignment
The RØDECaster Video has 4 HDMI inputs (1–4). By default these assign to the first four Input Buttons. To reassign, press Inspect, select an Input Button, tap the input-selection box, rotate the encoder to browse, and click to confirm.
Microphones & phantom power
Two Neutrik combo jacks accept XLR or ¼-inch connections for microphones and instruments. Enable phantom power via the Audio Mixer in the RØDECaster App.
Headphone outputs
Two outputs on the back connect two pairs of headphones. Adjust levels by pressing the audio encoder until the appropriate LED lights, then rotating to set volume.
Setting the global frame rate
Go to Settings → Video → Frame Rate and select from 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 50, 59.94 or 60 fps. Choose one and set every camera to match it.

Recording & storage
- Connect an external drive to the USB 3 port. It must be ExFAT; an SSD with strong write speeds is recommended for simultaneous audio and video.
- To format on the unit: Settings → Storage → USB Storage → Format.
- The record button shows green when ready, red while recording.
ISO video recording
Go to Settings → Multitrack → REC Video and select ISO — or in the app via Device Configuration → Video → Recording. This records each of the 6 video inputs separately.
Program quality & multitrack audio
- Program quality: choose Normal or High in the same menu (High matches ISO bitrates for editing flexibility).
- Multitrack audio: Settings → Multitrack → REC Audio (or Device Configuration → Audio → Multitrack → Recording). Options: Pre-Fader, Bypass Processing, or Post-Fader.
- USB multitrack: 20 channels available (10 stereo pairs), with the stereo mix on inputs 1–2.
Live streaming
Create a profile: open the RØDECaster App with the device on the same network, select it, open Stream Profiles, click Add Profile, name it, enter the server and stream key from your platform, and Save.
Go live: tap the section below the audio level meters on the home screen, select the profile with the encoder, tap Go Live and confirm with the green tick. The network indicator LED lights green when ready. End by tapping the elapsed-runtime button.

Reaching the audio settings
- From the home screen, tap the bottom-right icon or click the encoder to open the Audio Mixer.
- Use the encoder to cycle through inputs; click it to adjust the selected input's volume.
- Tap the top-right icon on an input page to open VoxLab processing (simple, slider-based).
- For granular control, in the RØDECaster App Audio Mixer click an input's icon → Processing → Advanced.
The processors
- High-Pass Filter: cuts low frequencies below a threshold to reduce rumble, muddiness and background noise.
- Three-Band Parametric EQ: boost or cut bass, mid and treble at frequencies you choose. (To reduce boominess, cut the low band.)
- Compressor: evens out level so a voice sounds smooth and balanced.
- Noise Gate: suppresses steady background noise such as air conditioners or traffic.
- Big Bottom™: adds low-end depth and punch. (Adds bass — leave off if you want less.)
- Aural Exciter™: adds sparkle and clarity in the high frequencies.
- APHEX master compressor: modelled after the APHEX Compellor; glues all channels into a balanced output.
